September 25, 2017
On September 7, 2017, Philip M. Halpern, managing partner of Collier, Halpern & Newberg, LLP, was elected to the Board of Directors of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV), an organization that provides free, high quality counsel in civil matters in which basic human needs are at stake for individuals and families who cannot afford to pay an attorney. Mr. Halpern has been associated with LSHV for several years, serving the Westchester County community through pro bono representation and financial support of the organization’s mission. On April 6, 2017, he was honored by LSHV at their annual Equal Justice for All dinner as one of the organization’s most generous supporters over the past 15 years. In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Halpern noted that "the work of the Hudson Valley Legal Services is God’s work, helping kids and battered women and seniors and families who live in poverty." Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, LSHV has provided free legal assistance to more than 200,000 clients in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties since 1967. We congratulate Mr. Halpern on his new position.
